Matthew Peake joins Cluttons investment & fund management business

28 July 2017

Matthew Peake has joined Cluttons as a partner in its investment and fund management business. This follows the appointment last week of Simon Latham as non-executive chairman of investment & fund management.

Peake has over 20 years’ experience in buying, selling and actively managing UK commercial real estate investments. He joins Cluttons from M&G Real Estate where he was a director of fund management on its £740m UK Property Fund, a core/core plus strategy for institutional investors.

Peake said, “I am delighted to be joining Cluttons at an exciting time of growth for the business following its recent change of ownership. I look forward to working within the investment and fund management team to continue the high-quality service and superior investment performance that its clients have been accustomed to, and to explore all opportunities to help grow funds under management.”

Peake and Latham will work alongside Cluttons’ head of fund management, Jamie McCombe, and head of investment, Giles Worrall. The team is currently mandated on £500m of assets under management and following the appointments of Peake and Latham, McCombe has ambitions to grow the business.

McCombe said, “We shall be seeking to build on our existing core fund management business by pitching for new mandates, whilst also exploring opportunities to grow and develop our team. Matthew has an exceptional track record and is a great addition, whilst bringing in Simon adds a real depth of experience, given his 30 years in the financial markets.”

During his time as Managing Director at ING REIM, Latham was responsible for over £3.5bn of assets and headed both the Value Add Investment and the Unlisted Pooled Funds divisions.

Prior to joining M&G Real Estate, Peake spent nine years as a fund manager at CBRE GI where he was responsible for two fully discretionary pension fund mandates.

Steve Morgan, senior partner at Cluttons, said, “Investment and fund management is a key part of our asset management division which is at the core of what we do. Bringing people of Simon and Matthew’s calibre into our already successful investment and fund management business is a clear signal of our intent”.
