Sustainability

Sustainability

Sustainability is defined as meeting the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland). Sustainable development, which is considered the path to sustainability, is the simultaneous pursuit of economic prosperity, environmental quality and social equity.

To Cluttons, sustainability simply makes good business sense. The concept of sustainability is emerging steadily in the property sector, primarily driven by increasing legislation.  However, the need for addressing sustainability is greater than ever before arising from climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution and resource shortages.

We see sustainable development as managing economic, social and environmental issues in a holistic manner that enhances long-term value. Many organisations are adopting this triple-bottom line approach as the way to evolve into a more sustainable enterprise and promote continual improvement.

Cluttons’ sustainability services help public and private clients explore opportunities to reduce their environmental impact, maximise their efficiencies and develop strategies for continuous improvement.

We focus on the following core areas of sustainability advice, which enhance all of our surveying and planning disciplines.

Key services include:

  • environmental policy and management systems
  • BREEAM
  • Code for Sustainable Homes
  • legislative compliance
  • environmental audits
  • advice and support on CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme
  • EPCs/DECs
  • sustainability appraisals
