GUIDE TO HOUSES IN HAMPSTEAD

HAMPSTEAD OVERVIEW

Hampstead, commonly known as Hampstead Village, is a picturesque residential area in North West London. Hampstead has strong artistic and literary associations and continues to attract people looking for an escape from the City, yet wanting to remain in close proximity to it. Hampstead is served by its own tube station on the Northern line and is only seven stops to Tottenham Court Road and less than half an hour to Bank station, in the heart of the City. Hampstead Heath station also connects the area to the rest of London via the overground network. Hampstead is boardered by Belsize Park, Chalk Farm, Golders Green and Highgate.

Families are attracted to the area because, whilst being so well connected to the rest of Central London, Hampstead retains a distinct ‘village’ feel. Moreover, the area is home to Hampstead Heath, a large public park with rambling hills, woodlands, and ponds. It is therefore no surprise that properites in the area have some of the highest values in Central London.

HOUSES IN HAMPSTEAD

Houses in Hampstead vary considerably, ranging from large, unique Victorian homes to small cottages. Close to the Heath, along roads such as East Heath Road, one will find large Victorian homes with red bricks and dramatic bay windows and enterance halls. Closer to the high street, one will find rows of Regency style terraces, along with a few more modern properites which are well woven in to the fabric of the area. Along smaller streets, such as Flask Walk, are small, characterfull cottages which serve to enhance the ‘village’ like feel of the area. Popular streets in the area include Bishops Avenue, Heath Street, North End Way and Spaniards Road.

Due to the size of the houses, the abundance of green space and the high number of quality schools in the area, houses in Hampstead are extremely popular with families.

MY HAMPSTEAD

Hampstead is a unique, lively area in North West London that has long been a destination for artists, writers, poets and politicians. With the distinct feel of a village or a small town, Hampstead feels far away from the hustle and bustle of Central London, despite sitting squarely within Zone 2 of the London underground network.

Hampstead is in many ways the best of both worlds. The busy high street is home to many independent bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as some high end pubs. However, there are also many of the local amenieties one would expect from a metropolitan area including a range of banks, pharmacies and fashion outlets.

As well as this bustling high street, Hampstead is also home to the large Heath, which offers unparalleled open green space for exploring. Situated only six kilometres from Trafalgar Square, Hampstead Heath is an ancient London park and one of London’s most popular open spaces. The diverse landscape and wildlife of the Heath is complimented by three open swimming ponds, a Lido and a historic stately home in the form of Kenwood House.
