Commercial division wins National Air Traffic rating agency role

Following a competitive tender, property consultant Cluttons has been appointed rating agent for NATS, the UK's leading air traffic service provider.
Cluttons' experienced rating team will provide advice relating to NNDR issues across NATS' highly diverse property and asset portfolio, which comprises close to 120 communications towers as well as a number of offices, warehouses and training facilities across the UK.
John Wood, head of Cluttons' Commercial division comments on the deal, "Since the new Rating List took effect in April, our clients are looking to us to reduce their rates liability particularly in this highly specialised field where we can add most value."
With an established telecoms specialist team advising mobile operators, broadcasters and major infrastructure providers in the UK and abroad, Cluttons is well-placed to deliver advice in relation to NATS' niche portfolio of communications assets, which include broadcast, radio and radar sites held in a mixture of freehold, leasehold and sharing agreements.
Wood continues, "The telecoms industry is unique in the speed that it evolves and the manner in which it adapts to changes. The impact of this on the property portfolio is particularly interesting and given the wide range of communication assets and the likely diversity of the VOA approach across the portfolio, our rating and telecom teams have unrivalled knowledge to be able to deliver substantial savings for NATS."
NATS manages more than 2m flights a year in controlled airspace from its two main centres at Swanwick in Hampshire and Prestwick in Ayrshire. It also provides air traffic control services at 15 of the UK's major airports.
