Gina, tell us a bit about yourself
I am a keen Leeds United supporter and attend Elland Road as much as I can throughout the football season. Over the summer I attempt to scrounge off my Dad for Lord’s and Oval tickets, admittedly I rarely watch much of the cricket, I like the social side of the sport.
Why do you want to work in real estate?
My enthusiasm for the industry started when I was a child and I have fortunately managed to tailor my studies almost always in the direction of property. Whether this be my Design and Technology project during my A-levels, Sustainability Development modules at university and notably my undergraduate dissertation thesis on the residential markets of Central London boroughs. It was my dissertation that affirmed my interest in the distinct impact of neighbourhoods and location and their influence on markets and demand. Additionally, I have always been a people person and the prospect of making longstanding relationships with clients to maximise and achieve aspirations ultimately drives me.
What interests you the most?
First and foremost, the property industry is a dynamic, everchanging, complicated matrix and fundamentally an important part of people’s everyday lives at home or in the workplace. The real estate industry is at the forefront of innovation, whether that be sustainable innovation in development, changing technologies or legislation.
Why did you apply for a role at Cluttons?
Working at Cluttons became a prime objective for me following a conversation with a previous graduate at a university careers fair. They showed such enthusiasm for the APC training programme and the support network available at Cluttons. Since starting at Cluttons, I have experienced this support in abundance. Every employee of Cluttons is a true industry professional showcasing their passion for the industry on a daily basis and a genuine desire to see you succeed.
Do you have any advice for future applicants?
Throw yourself into every rotation with an open mind. Never be afraid to ask questions and make use of the wealth of knowledge available to you via your colleagues. Most importantly, enjoy the opportunity to rotate throughout the departments, maximising your understanding of the real estate industry whilst meeting fantastic people along the way.
