Case studies

Rising up in Oxford Street, London

Cluttons is advising Flametree Properties, the owner of a commercial building on London’s Oxford Street, on an extension that will create circa 850 sq m of residential accommodation. The prominent building is listed and requires alterations to the existing building to enable the development. Design changes prior to construction have required a variation to the permission and negotiations with Westminster City Council. We have also advised the client on the complex Community Infrastructure Levy position.

Creating new affordable housing in Barnet

We are advising an investment fund on an affordable housing development in Barnet. Their site in north London is surplus employment land and, alongside our development team, we advised on the potential to develop the site. The development will deliver a 100% affordable housing scheme funded by private investment in association with the local authority. Cluttons is appointed to advise the owner on the planning strategy, pre-application discussions and the preparation, submission and negotiation of a planning application.

Strategic land development advice, Essex

Cluttons collaborated to provide strategic planning and development advice for 25 hectares of land for an urban extension on the edge of a settlement in Essex. The site had not been included within the development plan and Cluttons researched the history of the site and identified the key issues that prevented its allocation. We commissioned environmental and design information and prepared a promotional document setting out our case to support an allocation for presentation to the Council.
