Rotherhithe is located on a small peninsula on the south bank of the River Thames, to the west of Tower Bridge and opposite the Isle of Dogs. The area was home to many shipyards from Elizabethan times up until the 1970s. An extensive regeneration took place from the 1980s, with the redevelopment of warehouses into a charming residential district. Connection to the Jubilee line and the London Overground has helped Rotherhithe become one of the most popular residential areas in this part of London.
