Bringing in the new, conserving the old

Fishmongers Hall view from the Thames

Cluttons was instructed as lead consultant for the refurbishment of the lower and upper warehouse levels in Fishmonger’s Hall, London.

Fishmonger’s Hall is a Grade II* Listed Building and Scheduled Ancient Monument fronting the River Thames, belonging to the Fishmongers Company, one of the most ancient of the Livery Companies in the City of London.

Needing to create office accommodation with modern facilities, our team helped create a design that would provide offices suitable for modern user requirements, including air conditioning. This had to be done without detrimentally affecting the fabric or appearance.

We provided both building surveying and project management services as lead consultant in a multi-disciplinary team and sourced the essential listed Building and Scheduled Ancient Monument consents. The project was successfully managed on time and on budget whilst the rest of the Hall remained in use and fully operational.
