Cluttons advises elderly care provider Whiteley Homes Trust on multi-phase development

Cluttons, the property consultancy, is advising leading elderly care provider, Whiteley Homes Trust, on their development programme at Whiteley Village in Weybridge, Surrey.

Whiteley Village is a charitable retirement community, supporting older people of limited means to live as independently as possible.

Cluttons are supporting a multi phased development scheme at the Village. The ambitious and complex projects include developing a new 30-bed care facility with community café and facilities as well as refurbishing their Grade II listed building to provide 44 apartments.

Cluttons role is as project managers, cost advisors, supported by K2, and Principal Designer up until tender stage. Cluttons reviewed the planning submitted designs and supported the design to tender stage, managed the tender selection process for the main contractor and providing Employers Agent services until completion. Cluttons are also appointed to carry out the bank valuation and on-going bank monitoring for the funders, for the four-year development scheme.

The first phase has just been completed with Cluttons playing a key role in the development of an innovative Care Hub designed for high dependency residents. The Hub aims to provide a new model of care with features such open plan living, personal chef catering for residents and new technology such as acoustic monitoring which can identify when a resident may need help or support.

Commenting on the project, Mike Tolley, Chair of Whiteley Development Committee, said: “Cluttons has done an excellent job in monitoring and managing the development of the Care Hub project which has been a difficult and complex project. Thanks to the expertise and problem-solving skills of the team, the Hub has been delivered in budget and we are delighted with the quality of the final building.”

Philip Booth who leads the Whiteley project management team at Cluttons said: “It has been a pleasure to be involved in this project and enable residents to move into modern and contemporary facilities provided by the Care Hub. It has been challenging but the outcome is a wonderful new building and home for the residents.”
