Cluttons builds commercial valuations team with three senior hires

Cluttons has hired industry experts Jonathan Rhodes, Paul Watling and Philip Cazenove to enhance and grow its already well-established valuation proposition.

The appointments mark another key element of Cluttons’ focus on growth and building UK-wide services which offer clients value at every stage of the property lifecycle.

Jonathan joins as head of valuation with over 30 years’ experience. He previously fulfilled the same role at GL Hearn for 11 years running a team of 20 and having held a senior position at DTZ and Donaldsons for nine years prior to that. He has wide-ranging experience working for banks, investment funds, property companies and across the public sector, as well as an expert witness.

Paul also joins from GL Hearn where he was a director for five years. Paul has more than 30 years’ experience in the valuation of commercial, residential and development property for mortgage lending, accounts, statutory and strategic purposes across the private and public sectors throughout the UK. He is recognised for providing expert valuation advice and collaborative resolution of technical real estate issues.

Philip has over 15 years’ experience in valuations having been a director at GL Hearn for 11 years and prior to that, DTZ and Donaldsons. His focus is on secured lending valuation for banks, HNW individuals and property companies.

The team will focus on building Cluttons’ UK-wide client base with expertise across the office, retail and industrial markets, as well as specialist sectors and mixed-use portfolios. They will strengthen Cluttons capabilities in the investment, development and corporate markets and will complement Cluttons’ existing and renowned expertise in residential valuations by also bringing greater depth of knowledge across the wide-ranging residential development market. Working holistically across teams comes naturally and they will support the wider Cluttons’ business and clients from occupational and investment agency, property management, building consultancy, project management, planning and development.

Commenting on the appointments, James Gray, managing partner, Cluttons said: “We are continuing to focus on our long-term strategy to ensure that we are ready to take advantage of growth opportunities as the property industry returns to a new normal. Jonathan, Paul and Phil are an important part of that plan and our objective is to build a valuations practice with a market-leading reputation.”

Commenting on his role, Jonathan Rhodes said: “Valuations transcend the property lifecycle. We provide clients with the necessary financial and strategic knowledge to make informed decisions based on our ability to prepare valuations and well informed forward-thinking and innovative advice using our technical expertise and extensive market knowledge. Our ambition is to build a professional valuations consultancy team which is best in class and is seen as a trusted adviser, enhancing the strength of the Cluttons’ brand.”
