Cluttons has appointed Jason Smith as Partner in its Newcastle office, further strengthening the firm’s valuation offer in the North East office.
Jason joins from BNP Paribas Real Estate, where he led valuation activity across North East England.
A Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer, Jason brings more than 30 years’ experience providing valuations across commercial and residential property markets throughout the North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire.
At Cluttons, Jason will support clients across the firm’s national valuations practice, drawing on his extensive experience delivering RICS-compliant (Red Book) valuations for loan security, financial reporting and transactional purposes. His expertise spans a broad range of sectors, including housing development, hospitality, healthcare, senior living and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), further strengthening the team’s specialist valuation capabilities.
Complementing his wider commercial valuation expertise, Jason brings specialist expertise in trading properties, having spent more than a decade valuing going concerns and trade entities across the hospitality, leisure, healthcare, medical and retail sectors.
Jason’s appointment follows the arrival of Andrew Rutter as Head of Newcastle at the beginning of this year, who is leading the firm’s North East team, further expanding Cluttons’ regional valuation capabilities and reflecting its continued investment in the region as client demand grows for specialist advice across both operational real estate and mainstream commercial assets.
The hire forms part of Cluttons’ broader growth ambitions, with strategic appointments playing an important role in strengthening the firm’s expertise across its core service lines and regional offices. Over the past 12 months, the business has continued to invest in talent, including appointments to its Healthcare and Senior Living team and valuation practice, alongside the expansion of teams across London, Manchester, Newcastle, Oxford, Reading and Glasgow.
