National Grid: London
Power Tunnels 1 –
Rewiring London

A large huge ditch pit tunnel timelapse at the construction site of the underground metro station line.

Post construction, National Grid instructed Cluttons to oversee a number of projects for LPT1 as part of the project completion.

How we helped

Our services included providing RICS Red Book compliant valuations of surplus land in North London, the renewal of office and studio leases of a commercial building occupied by tenants who were displaced to facilitate the tunnel works, whilst the out building and projects team provided support in monitoring development works above an
electricity headhouse in Earls Court.

Further work included advising National Grid on a diminution in land value claim at in West London by a residential
developer who had built a major residential development above the tunnel.

Services provided:

  • Compensation claim handling
  • Valuation
  • Project and building consultancy
  • Lease advisory.

The outcome

Successful delivery of all the services allowed National Grid to wrap up LPT1 and move on to the next project.
