RNLI Porsche 911 Challenge team successfully drives to all 51 RNLI lifeboat stations in just 9.11 days

Cluttons is delighted to have supported this this year’s RNLI-911 Challenge in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

The purpose of the challenge was to raise awareness of the unique organisation, which is run by volunteers, whose sole purpose is to ‘save lives at sea’ as well as to raise funds to buy a ‘D’ Class Lifeboat by 2024.

Belinda and James Richardson's RNLI challenge

RNLI-911 Challenge team Belinda and James with “Splash”

The challenge entailed Belinda and James Richardson driving their Porsche 911 (nicknamed ‘Splash’) anti-clockwise around the whole of Wales, visiting all 51 RNLI past and present Lifeboat Stations and travelling over 2,000 miles within 9.11 days. An incredible feat!

Belinda and James Richardson's RNLI challenge

London couple and RNLI-911 Challenge team Belinda and James (and ‘SPLASH’!) stopped by the Cluttons Tower Bridge office to say hello before embarking on their mission.

Belinda said after successfully completing the challenge “It is hard to quantify the true impact the challenge made but we are very confident it has been a positive outcome for all concerned and are delighted to have raised greater awareness and nearly £12,000 pushing our running total to over £42,000 towards our ‘D’ Class Lifeboat Appeal. Wales has the smallest population of Lifeboat Stations so our target was more modest this year but we are delighted that we exceeded our expectations by nearly £5,000! Next year our Challenge will take place around the whole of Ireland – starting and finishing in Dublin with current 47 stations to visit in Northern and Southern Ireland.”
